Weekly reflection

  • What did I enjoy this week? One thing I enjoyed this week was our collage work, because we were able to add our favourite brands, clothing and fashion we like. I liked this because it was fun and creative.

  • What was one success I have had and why? One success I had this week was my statistic post test because I think I done really well on it considering I wasn't in the mood for a test that day.

  • What is something that I found challenging and why? One thing I found challenging was our quilt making because I don't enjoy sewing by hand and because the material kept getting knotted at the back and it was hard to untangle so I had cut it and restart.

  • What is one thing I have learned? One thing I learnt was who to make scones at technology. I found it really fun but also challenging because of the texture of the dough.

  • What is something I am looking forward to next week? Something I am looking forward to next week is our school athletics because it is my last year at Pompallier doing it, Rippa rugby in Kerikeri because it will be one of the first sports events my year level will be going to, far north zones for athletics because that will determined the winners for atheltics in the far north and our school photos.

  • How have I shown the value of Pono this week? I have showen the value Pono by telling the truth when I got in trouble

Weekly reflection

  • What did I enjoy this week? Last week I enjoyed being taught by our new student teacher because she taught us some fun things and we started reading a new story " Rangatira ". I enjoyed it because it taught be about land loss and the struggles people went through back in the days.

  • What was one success I have had and why? One success I had last week was making it into our athletic zones this Friday. This was a success for me because whenever I make it into something it makes me feels good and it makes me push harder to succeed.

  • What is one thing I have learned? One thing I learn't last week was how to write a letter correctly and what to add/ Include. I also learn't how to write the layout and structure of the letter to make it look formal and well presented.

  • What is something I am looking forward to next week? Something I am looking forward to this week is our athletic zones because it is fun and we get to compete against other school and socialise with them. I am also excited for athletics because this will be my last year competing for my school.

  • How have I shown the value of Pono this week? Last week I showed the value aroha by playing with different kids from other grades and sharing with others.

Weekly reflection

  • This week I enjoyed being back with my friends and being back at school. I also enjoyed all our athletics training we done this week because it helped build our stamina and helped us prepare for the athletic zones.

One success I had this week was staying focus and not getting distracted easily by my friends and class mates. This was a success for me because last term I was working on staying focus so I could finish my work.

  • One thing I found challenging was daily timetable because during the holidays I didn't really do much to do with school so trying to get back into routine was hard.

  • One thing I have learnt this week is Mean, median, mode & range. I learnt what each of them meant and how they help in maths

  • Something I am looking forward to next week is athletics score taking because that will determine weather or not some people make it to zones or not.

Adventures in the Far North

" Yayy the holidays!! " I yelled to my mum as I jumped into the car. I was really excited for these holidays because it was going to be the first holidays I spend with my dad and his family for the first time ever. On my way down to Whangarei I had mixed emotions and I was feeling really nervous. When I arrived my older cousins were waiting for me at the front of the driveway waving at me. My cousin Vanni was the most excited to see me because we became close the first time we meet so it made my nervous fade away. " I missed you " my younger said to me as I hugged her " I missed you too " I said with a smile across my face.

The first day in whangarei was filled with Adrenalin and anticipation. My older cousins and I biked around OT ( Otangarei )  and Tikipunga and ate a lot of food. My aunty dropped us off in the town center and we met up with a few friends and other cousins. We went to the movies, park and spent time lying by a tree listening to music and talking about things. This was my first day here and I was already loving it. We headed home and sat in the shed chilling and doing tiktoks. I had the chance to meet some of my first cousins Ziah, William & anna who had came up from Hamilton. We automatically clicked and we spent

My second day in Whangarei we all woke up very late ( 11 o’clock ) and headed into town to pick up my cousins friends and biked to the water hole for a swim. There was a group of us so feeding everyone was pretty hard considering we only had $30 dollars to spend between 17 of us. We finished our swim a few hours later and then the girls got picked up while the boys biked back home to have a feed and have showers. Later that afternoon my step mum picked up all the kids and we went for a drive out to the look out and watched a movie. The older kids sat in the back ( Boot ) of the truck watching horror movies while the little kids sat in truck watching tangled. We had mattresses, pillow and blankets in the back so it was comfortable for us to lay down on and get comfortable. After a few hours and movies later all the little kids had fallen asleep, so my step mum suggested we take them back home and we could go out. When we got home the big kids walked to the shop to grab some munchies for tonight and we watched movies til early the next morning.

My third day I started getting home sick so my mums parents picked me up and we went to Auckland. When I told my dads family I was leaving they all asked why & my cousins begged me to stay another night because it was going to be boring. I said my goodbyes and headed back down to Auckland. When we arrived in Auckland we went out for lunch and went shopping. I bought a few pairs of shoes & clothes.

This school holidays were probably my favourite one so far.

Social Justice week

For this task we had to make a copy of the slide and finish of the tasks. We had to find scriptures and right what the meaning of the scriptures were and create a DLO showing how we would proclaim the word of god. We also had to list important dates and events that happened throughout the years.

Weekly reflection

I enjoyed our Te Reo task because we made our own Taonga and got to design it to our liking & because I found it cool researching the meaning behind Taonga shapes

I succeed in my behaviour inside class and outside class with watching what I say or the way I am pronouncing things in front of little kids and being a successful role model for my school community and to myself

I found it a bit challenging to complete my contracts because I found it a bit hard to stay focused on my work but I completed it because i had an awesome teacher to explain it to me clearly.

I learned how to create a Taonga with clay and water I was able to design it myself with the help of other in my class it came exactly how I pictured it with the design and I am really proud of my

Something I am looking forward to is learning 50 new Maori words and celebrating Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori.

Weekly reflection

Something I enjoyed this week was my Independent learning because it was fun, challenging and enjoyable. I found it fun because it gave me a chance to see how hard and stressful it  is to plan a holiday for 2 or more people with a budget limit.

One success I had this week was beating my basic facts time and score. It was a huge success for me because ive been wanting to get better at them.

One thing I found challenging this week was managing my time and staying on task because my teacher wasn't here much and I got distracted easily this week but some how managed to finish most of my work to a higher standard then I thought.

One thing I have learnt this week is learning my 7 and 8 times tables.

Something I am looking forward to next week is getting a better score in basic facts and going to tech because I have been really enjoying it at the moment.

I have shown the value pono by being truthful and honest when owning up to my mistakes and actions

Travel

For this task we had to create a holiday for after covid 19. We had a budget we could spend and we had to plan a holiday for ourselves and a friend. We had to book flights, accommodation and we had to return back to New Zealand with less than 1,000 in our wallets.

Weekly reflection

Something I enjoyed this week was when we visited Father Larry and he talked to us about his journey about becoming and being a priest. I enjoyed it because I learnt a lot and it helped me with my learning in class and I found it interesting to hear why he wanted to become a priest and how long it took him to get to this stage.

One success I had this week was not getting into trouble and focusing on my work more. I thought that those were my success' because I normally don't focus much on my work and get in trouble in class which I didn't as much this week.

Something I found challenging was my AWS Post Test because even though I knew what we were doing I still found it hard to do because I didn't really understand it as much as I thought.

One thing I have learnt this week is that when you become a priest you have to study theology and earn your'e bachelors degree in order to become one, which I found really cool because I didn't know you had to study all those things to become a priest.

Something I am looking forward to next week is tech because I have been enjoying it and because I have learnt a lot of new and interesting things this term that I didn't know last term.

I have shown the value PONO this week by answering my question survey honestly.

Senses poem

I see colourfulness start appearing as I open the windows and curtains and turn on the speaker.

I start admiring the view outside the windows, as I can feel the breeze come through.

I can smell the fresh plants and the smell of home cooked food on the stove and the BBQ.

I hear laughter from my cousins and the sound of music.

I feel safe and happy because I know my family's here.

I can taste the home cooked dinner and the meat from the BBQ.

I think tonight's gonna be a night to remember.

Story :)

For this task we had to write a short story using personification. Personification is when you give a none moving thing human characteristics. For my story I had to be something from nature. Guess what I am....

It is dark and the sun has not risen. The sky is dark and foggy, I can hear the birds chirping just as the sun appears on the sky. The early morning breeze and the wet cold sand is all I can feel. The sound of the waves crashing onto each other and onto the shore is peaceful and calming. I can smell the fresh air and the smell of the sea.

The sun is beginning to rise, and with it comes the sound of boats in the distance.

I have mixed feelings and emotions. I can feel the panic in the air and I feel the fear.

I cannot move but as the boats come closer to the shore I feel scared, I can feel the adrenaline from the soldiers.

The soldiers have started to disembark and I can hear the sound of people running in the distance. I am being kicked, moved and stomped on by people running past. The soldiers are yelling and screaming at each other and all I can do is watch the chaos commence in front of me.

I am now upside down and then all of a sudden a bloody body drops to the ground. I can hear his cries for help and his wailing. I watch as nearby soldiers rush to his side just as he takes his last breath.

Night is starting to fall and the beach is filled with lifeless bodies and is finally calmed down. The scene is unbearable and the sight is dreadful. The amount of lives and bodies that were taken today was heartbreaking.

End of week reflection

One thing I enjoyed this week was cross country because it was fun and because it was my last one at this school. I also enjoyed it because everyone gave it a go and everyone participated and earn their house group points.

One success I achieved this week was making it into cross country zones.

Something I need to work on is managing my time and working independently because I get distracted easily by others and I distract others around me.

One thing I have learnt this week is triangular numbers and similes and metaphors.

Something I am looking forward to next week is rugby 7's and speeches.
